AS Monaco new signing Simon Adingra has set his sights on a sensational return to the Ivory Coast national team after missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Adingra’s limited game time at Sunderland at the beginning of the season cost him a place in the Ivory Coast squad for the recently concluded AFCON tournament, where the Elephant bowed out at quarterfinals.
Having secured a loan move to the French Ligue 1 giants, the enterprising attack has said that returning to the national team remain one of his ambitions.
“Returning to the national team is also one of my ambitions. Getting back to a very high level is important to me, and I have spoken with Emerse Faé, the Ivory Coast coach, who confirmed that joining AS Monaco was a very good choice because it is a very big Ligue 1 club,”
Meanwhile, Adingra has vowed to give his best for the Principality club as they seeks for an impactful campaign.
“One of the objectives is to do well in the Coupe de France. On a personal level, I want to give my best, help the team and fully commit to the club’s project” he said.
Adingra joined AS Monaco on loan from Sunderland on transfer deadline day, keeping him at the French outfit until the end of the current campaign. The winger loan deal worth £1 million, with a permanent acquisition set at €17 million.
Adingra, who joined Sunderland from Brighton last summer struggled for regular minutes this campaign, making just nine Premier League appearances under head coach Régis Le Bris.
The lack of consistent playing time prompted the 24-year-old to seek a temporary move away in order to get his season back on track.
