Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra hopes to emulate Mohammed Kudus’ success at Ajax

Ivory Coast international winger Simon Adingra has set his sights on emulating the success enjoyed by Ghana star Mohammed Kudus during his time at Dutch giants Ajax.

Adingra, who was part of the Ivory Coast squad that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, completed a deadline-day move from Sunderland to the Dutch powerhouse, joining Ajax on a season-long loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

The enterprising winger spent part of last season on loan at French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco after struggling to establish himself as a regular at Sunderland.

Following his move to Ajax, Adingra expressed his excitement about joining the Dutch club and revealed his desire to replicate the impact made by Kudus, a fellow Right to Dream Academy graduate.

“Ajax is a good environment and also the style of play, I think it fits my style. I hope I can do just as well here as Mohammed Kudus,” Adingra said.

Kudus enjoyed a highly successful three-year spell at Ajax, establishing himself as one of the club’s most exciting attacking players.

The Ghana international scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 87 appearances across all competitions, while helping Ajax win two Eredivisie titles and the Dutch Cup.

His impressive performances earned him a move to the English Premier League, where he joined West Ham United before securing a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Adingra will now hope Ajax can provide a similar platform for him to rediscover his best form and follow in the footsteps of Kudus by becoming another African star to make a significant impact at the Amsterdam-based club.
