SOA (Société Omnisports des Armées) clinched its first-ever Ivorian league title on Monday, following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over AFAD. The military club came from behind in the match to secure the win, a fitting way to cap off a historic season.
With this triumph, SOA succeeds ASEC Mimosas, last season’s champions, and cements their position as one of the top teams in Ivory Coast. Having led Ligue 1 since the second matchday, the club maintained remarkable consistency throughout the campaign, and this title confirms their dominance.
SOA’s success also comes with continental rewards: the club will represent Ivory Coast in next year’s CAF Champions League, providing an opportunity to showcase their talent on Africa’s biggest stage.
With two matchdays remaining in the national championship, SOA sits on 52 points, making it mathematically impossible for FC San Pedro, currently on 44 points, to catch up. The club and its supporters now have ample reason to celebrate a historic first league title, achieved through determination, resilience, and a strong season-long performance.
