Serge Aurier has officially joined the Ivory Coast national team as preparations ramp up for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The Tottenham defender, who finished as a runner-up in the Champions League final against Liverpool, arrived in Chantilly, France, where he will begin training with the Elephants.
Aurier was joined by key teammates, including Sylvain Gbohouo, Franck Kessié, Simon Déli, and Roger Assalé, as the squad assembled for the next stage of preparation. The team’s arrival in Chantilly marks the start of an intensive training period ahead of their upcoming friendlies.
Following their stay in France, Ivory Coast will travel to Abu Dhabi for the next phase of preparations, where they will continue to fine-tune their tactics and build cohesion ahead of the AFCON tournament in Egypt.
The addition of Aurier provides a significant boost to the Ivorian squad, bringing experience, defensive solidity, and leadership as they aim to challenge for the continental title.
