Ivorian footballer Serge Saurier expressed strong confidence ahead of the first leg match between Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal in the play-offs for the 2014 World Cup. The Toulouse left-back stated that there is no need for the Elephants to worry, and if there is any team that should be afraid, it is Senegal.
Saurier asserted, “Fear is in the Senegalese camp,” emphasizing his belief that Senegal is the team under pressure. He also mentioned having friends in Ligue 1 who recognize the situation, considering it a positive sign.
While Saurier’s confidence is apparent, he was also cautious about overconfidence, acknowledging that anything can happen in football. Despite Ivory Coast’s success against Senegal in the CAN 2013 qualifiers, he urged vigilance and emphasized that overconfidence should be avoided in the play-offs.
