Ivory Coast officially approach Inter Milan star Ange-Yoan Bonny over nationality switch
Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae has confirmed contacting Inter Milan forward Ange-Yoan Bonny over a possible nationality switch.
The 22-year-old sensation, born in Aubervilliers, France has represented the European country at youth level, including U19, U20 and U21.
But the striker is yet to represent the France senior national team, prompting an attempt by Ivory Coast to entice him to commit his international future to the West African football heavyweights.
However, Fae, who guided Ivory Coast to AFCON 2023 success has disclosed he is in contact with the player and his representative over nationality switch, having followed his progress even before Inter Milan switch.”
“Discussions are underway with him and his entourage. We hope he will embrace the project we are proposing” he said.
The move stems from Fae’s commitment to integrating young talent into his squad ahead of the two crucial tournaments. The Elephants are preparing to defend its title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), while also aiming for qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The integration of new talent clearly proves that the Ivorian national team hopes to strengthen its roster and remain competitive on the international stage.
Ange-Yoan Bonny has been outstanding for Inter Milan this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 10 Serie A appearances.
