Ivory Coast midfielder Abdoul Aziz Doumbia joins Kelantan City
Ivory Coast defensive midfielder Abdoul Aziz Doumbia has joined Kelantan City, strengthening the Malaysian club’s midfield ahead of the new A1 Semi-Pro League campaign.
The 25-year-old arrives after a spell without a club and becomes part of Kelantan City’s squad from 18 August 2026. No transfer fee has been recorded for the move, and no contract length has been disclosed.
Doumbia was born in Bouake and stands 1.77m tall. He is right-footed and operates primarily in defensive midfield, a role he has occupied throughout a career that has largely taken place in Georgia and Lithuania.
His recent playing record includes 37 appearances and one goal in the Erovnuli Liga. He also featured in the David Kipiani Cup, the I Lyga, the Liga 1 Playoff and Toplyga, taking his recorded appearances across those competitions to 47.
Before becoming a free agent, Doumbia’s most recent named club was Zalgiris, whom he joined in September 2023. His time with the Lithuanian side followed an earlier spell without a club, while his previous career movements included a switch from Shukura to an unattached status in 2023.
Doumbia joined Shukura from Sioni Bolnisi in January 2023 on a free transfer. He had earlier moved to Sioni Bolnisi from Dinamo II, also without a fee, after beginning his senior career with Tbilisi City and Aragvi Dusheti.
The midfielder’s career has therefore included clubs from several levels of football in the Georgian system, alongside his experience in Lithuania. His arrival at Kelantan City marks a move into Malaysian football and gives the club a player with experience in a holding midfield position.
Kelantan City compete in the A1 Semi-Pro League, where Doumbia will continue his playing career after recording his most recent substantial run of appearances in the Erovnuli Liga.
Doumbia’s move to Kelantan City was completed on 18 August 2026.
