Didier Drogba’s absence from the Ivory Coast’s squad for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifying match is attributed to the Galatasaray striker’s perceived lack of fitness. Coach Sabri Lamouchi stated at a press conference that Drogba, who has played sparingly in the past eight months and had a stint in China, is not currently in peak condition. Lamouchi mentioned that Drogba expressed a desire to focus on regaining his form through dedicated training before making himself available for selection to the national team. Ivory Coast is set to face Gambia on March 23.
