Ivory Coast international Elye Wahi seeks to extend OGC Nice stay after strong return to form

Elye Wahi is pushing to remain at OGC Nice after rediscovering form during his loan spell from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 23-year-old forward, who has been called up for the first time to the Ivory Coast national team for the March training camp, appears eager to build on his recent progress both internationally and at club level.

Wahi joined Nice on loan during the winter transfer window following a difficult first half of the season in Germany.

Since his arrival on the French Riviera, he has re-established himself in the team, becoming a regular starter and delivering a series of encouraging performances.

Despite a short spell on the sidelines due to injury, the forward has managed to regain momentum and contribute consistently.

His impact has strengthened his position within the squad and increased his desire to continue with the club.

Reports indicate that Wahi has already communicated his intention to the club’s management, expressing a clear preference to extend his stay.

Discussions between the parties are said to be ongoing as they explore the possibility of prolonging the agreement.

Eintracht Frankfurt are not believed to oppose the idea of extending the loan, although they are understood to be seeking specific conditions.

These reportedly include a paid loan arrangement and the inclusion of an option to make the move permanent.

Should the clubs reach an agreement, Wahi could remain with Nice for another season, potentially paving the way for a long-term transfer at a later stage.

His current contract with Frankfurt runs until June 2030, placing the German side in control of his future.

Since joining Nice, Wahi has made nine appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

His performances have come at a key moment in the campaign, with the club continuing its Ligue 1 schedule.

Nice are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in their upcoming league fixture, offering Wahi another opportunity to demonstrate his value as discussions over his future continue.
