President of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss Diallo has categorically denied calling for the removal of the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Véron Mosengo-Omba.
Earlier reports in the media suggested that Yacine Idriss Diallo had taken a clear position on the situation of Mosengo-Omba, including calls for his departure.
But Diallo has firmly rejected those claims, stressing that he had never at any point called for the removal of Mosengo-Omba. He underlined that no such request was made publicly, privately, or during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held on February 13, 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
“President Yacine Idriss Diallo wishes to make it clear that at no time, either publicly or privately, and certainly not during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held on Friday 13 February 2026, did he make any request for the departure of the CAF Secretary General, Mr Véron Mosengo-Omba,” the statement read.
He added that the remarks and intentions attributed to him do not reflect his views in any way. Diallo further noted that, to the best of his knowledge, none of his fellow federation presidents made such statements during the Executive Committee meeting.
Meanwhile, the Ivorian FA president has called for responsibility, restraint and professionalism in the handling and dissemination of sensitive information relating to African football governance.
