Ivorian winger Yan Diomande’s impending transfer signals more changes at  Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Ivorian winger Yann Diomande is expected to mark only the beginning of a busy end to the summer transfer window, with manager José Mourinho planning further changes to his squad.

The Spanish giants are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig over the signing of the highly rated winger, who is set to become Mourinho’s fifth addition since taking charge.

However, Spanish newspaper AS reports that the club’s transfer business is far from complete, with more arrivals and departures anticipated before the window closes in September.

Midfield remains a priority

While Diomande is close to sealing his move to the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid continue to be linked with Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

Although the club has publicly played down reports of interest, AS says Rodri is keen on returning to La Liga with Real Madrid.

The report adds that, while Madrid’s stance appeared to rule out a move only weeks ago, the club now believes the situation could still change before the transfer deadline.

Internal voices are reportedly continuing to push for negotiations, although no formal breakthrough has been made.

Departures needed before further signings

Real Madrid are understood to be keen to create room in the squad before making additional signings, particularly in midfield.

Bernardo Silva has already joined the club, while Dani Ceballos has departed permanently and Aurélien Tchouaméni has signed a contract extension.

Those moves have left Mourinho assessing whether further adjustments are needed to strengthen his options.

Vinicius future under scrutiny

One of the biggest decisions facing the club concerns the future of Brazil forward Vinicius Jr.

According to the report, Real Madrid’s hierarchy want to resolve the winger’s situation quickly once he returns from the FIFA World Cup.

His current contract is approaching its final stages, and AS claims the club’s preferred direction is no longer aligned with offering him a contract extension.

More squad decisions expected

Several other first-team players are also expected to have their futures decided before the transfer window closes.

Marco Asensio, Gonzalo, Franco Mastantuono, Brahim Diaz and Eduardo Camavinga are among those whose situations remain under review.

The report says Brahim Diaz and Camavinga have expressed their desire to remain at Real Madrid, while the club is exploring options for a central defender through agent Jorge Mendes.

Meanwhile, Gonzalo and Mastantuono are both expected to leave in the coming days, either on permanent transfers or loan deals.

With Diomande’s arrival edging closer, Mourinho appears to be laying the foundations for a faster and more direct Real Madrid side, with further transfer activity expected before the summer window comes to an end.
