Sunderland winger Simon Adingra is poised for a medical in London as he prepares for a loan move to Monaco.
The clubs have agreed on a deal that will keep Adingra at the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season, with a loan fee exceeding £1 million.
The Ivorian international joined Sunderland from Brighton in the summer but has featured in just nine Premier League matches under Regis Le Bris this term. Seeking more regular game time, the 24-year-old views the switch to Monaco as an opportunity to revive his season.
Although his contract with Sunderland runs until 2030, the club has agreed to let him spend the remainder of the campaign in France.
Monaco have moved swiftly to secure the winger, despite interest from other clubs during the January transfer window.
Adingra has fallen down the pecking order at Sunderland, with Romaine Mundle and Chemsdine Talbi preferred in Le Bris’ plans, making the loan move beneficial for both player and club.
Sunderland also stand to gain financially from the deal, while Adingra is eager to finalise the transfer after passing his medical.
