France-born midfielder of Ivorian descent, Joël-Emmanuel Coulibaly, has taken a significant step in his football journey by signing his first professional contract with Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.
This milestone marks the culmination of years of dedication and development for the young talent.
Coulibaly, who progressed through Stade Rennais’ academy system, expressed his gratitude and determination in an interview with 225foot.
Reflecting on his achievement, the 18-year-old said, “Becoming a professional is a dream come true—years of work finally rewarded. I have integrated well and thank all my supervisors and teammates. Now, I must keep my head up, work hard, and continue to progress, because the hardest part is just beginning.”
The defensive midfielder, known for his composure and tactical intelligence, acknowledged the challenges of competing at the top level.
“The top level is very demanding. It is necessary to redouble your efforts and seize your chance in every match,” he added.
Coulibaly’s contract ties him to Stade Rennais until June 2028, reflecting the club’s faith in his potential.
Having previously shone with the U19 reserve team, he is now ready to take on greater responsibilities and make his mark in Ligue 1.
