Ivory Coast international Emmanuel Latte Lath has completed a return to European football after joining German Bundesliga side Union Berlin on a season-long loan from Major League Soccer club Atlanta United.

The deal includes an option to buy, giving the German club the opportunity to make the move permanent should the striker impress during the 2026/27 campaign.

Latte Lath’s arrival marks a significant new chapter in his career as he prepares to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues. Having previously played in Italy, England and Switzerland, the Ivorian forward will now add Germany to his growing football journey.

The 27-year-old has built a reputation as a dynamic and hardworking attacker capable of troubling defenders with his pace, movement and finishing ability. His performances in various leagues across Europe and North America have earned him recognition as a forward capable of making an impact at a high level.

Union Berlin moved to secure his services as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season. The Bundesliga side believes the Ivorian striker can add quality and depth to their attacking options as they aim to compete strongly in domestic competition.

The loan arrangement also gives both parties flexibility. While Latte Lath will focus on establishing himself in Germany over the coming months, Union Berlin will have the option to retain him permanently if his performances meet expectations.

Should the striker adapt quickly and make a positive impact, his stay in Berlin could extend beyond the current campaign. Failure to trigger the purchase option would see him return to Atlanta United at the end of the season.

Speaking after the transfer was completed, Latte Lath expressed his excitement about the move and revealed that conversations with Union Berlin convinced him that the club was the right destination for the next stage of his career.

“Discussions with Union Berlin have been very positive right from the start, and what’s more, I’ve already had a taste of the atmosphere at the Alte Försterei. I’m looking forward to meeting the team, contributing to its success and feeling the support of the fans.

The Bundesliga is a major challenge, one I’m really looking forward to. I want to seize this opportunity to prove myself at this level and help the team with my skills.”

His comments underline the motivation behind the move, with the striker eager to prove himself in one of Europe’s elite leagues.

Union Berlin supporters will also be encouraged by his determination to make an immediate contribution. The club has developed a reputation for its passionate fan base and unique atmosphere at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, factors that appear to have played a role in attracting the Ivorian forward.

For Latte Lath, the transfer offers an opportunity to re-establish himself in European football after his spell in Major League Soccer. It also presents a chance to continue strengthening his position within the Ivory Coast national team setup by competing regularly at a high level.

The coming months will determine whether the move becomes a long-term partnership, but for now the striker’s focus will be on settling quickly, earning a place in the team and helping Union Berlin achieve its objectives during the 2026/27 season.

With a fresh challenge ahead and the backing of his new club, Emmanuel Latte Lath will be hoping to make his mark in the Bundesliga and prove that he has what it takes to succeed on another major European stage.
