Ivorian outfit Africa Sports d’Abidjan appoint Maxime Gouaméné as new head coach

Africa Sports d’Abidjan have ushered in a new era following the appointment of experienced tactician Maxime Gouaméné as their head coach.

The Ivorian club, determined to secure a return to the top flight, is placing its faith in a coach with proven pedigree and deep knowledge of local football.

Gouaméné guided FC San Pedro to the Ivory Coast professional league title during the 2023–2024 season, underlining his winning credentials.

Africa Sports have, however, expressed strong confidence in the new manager, describing him as a coach with vast experience and a winning mentality capable of restoring the Green and Red to their former glory.

Nicknamed “Rui Barros,” Gouaméné is no stranger to Africa Sports. He previously featured for the club during the 1994–1995 season, giving his appointment an added emotional significance.

His return is seen as a strategic move aimed at blending tradition with ambition as the club pushes for promotion.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Africa Sports welcomed Gouaméné as “the new boss on the sidelines,” signaling the start of what they hope will be a successful chapter in the club’s history.
