Ivorian midfielder Landry N’Dri N’Guessan relishes PSG move after leaving Troyes
Ivorian midfielder Landry N’Dri N’Guessan says he had no hesitation in joining Paris Saint-Germain this summer, describing the move as a defining moment in his young career.
The 18-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at ESTAC Troyes, has drawn a line under several formative years with the Champagne-based club to seize the chance of stepping onto a bigger stage.
Speaking in an interview with Africasoccer, N’Guessan expressed gratitude to Troyes but made clear that the opportunity to sign with PSG was one he could not turn down.
“I am grateful to Troyes, which allowed me to grow and develop, but when Paris came along, I didn’t hesitate. It’s a huge opportunity for me and my family,” he said.
N’Guessan initially joined PSG on trial during their summer training camp, where his performances quickly impressed the coaching staff.
His displays earned him a contract with the club, who tied him down until the summer of 2027. Despite securing his place in the French champions’ set-up, the midfielder remains grounded about the work that lies ahead.
“I know there’s still a lot to do,” he admitted. “The competition here is very strong, but it’s motivating. I want to learn, progress, and show that I can do my part.”
The teenager will begin his journey with the Under-21 squad, but he has already set his sights on eventually breaking into the senior team. His ambition reflects the determination that has carried him this far.
“Like all the young players who sign here, I dream of one day playing on the Parc des Princes pitch with the first team,” he explained. “I will work hard every day to make that a reality.”
Born in Akoupé, Ivory Coast, N’Guessan’s journey to PSG has been marked by steady progression.
At Troyes, he built a reputation for technical ability and composure in midfield, qualities that PSG scouts believed could be nurtured within their academy system.
His transfer underlines the club’s continued investment in emerging talent alongside their established stars.
The Ivorian’s contract until 2027 provides him with a long runway to develop, but also carries the challenge of proving he can handle the step up in expectations that comes with representing a club of PSG’s stature
. For N’Guessan, the next few years will be about adapting to the intensity of the environment, learning from experienced professionals, and taking advantage of every opportunity to showcase his ability.
“I want to improve in every area,” he added. “Each training session is a chance to grow. I know I have to be patient, but also to stay determined.”
While the focus remains on his personal development, PSG’s senior side are preparing for their upcoming French Championship fixture against RC Lens on Matchday 4. For N’Guessan, matches like these serve as motivation, reminders of the level he aspires to reach.
The midfielder’s arrival at the capital club has been greeted with optimism, with many observers believing he has the attributes to carve out a successful career. For now, his task is clear: to continue building on the promise he showed at Troyes and prove he can thrive in one of Europe’s most demanding football environments.
