Newly promoted Ivorian Ligue 1 side Yamoussoukro FC have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of highly-rated goalkeeper Bouba Konate.

The ambitious club, which earned promotion to the Ivorian top flight last season, continues to strengthen its ranks as it prepares for the challenges of competing among the country’s elite clubs.

Konate joins Yamoussoukro FC as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Atlantis FC, where he established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in the league.

The shot-stopper has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028, underlining Yamoussoukro FC’s long-term plans to build a competitive squad capable of maintaining its top-flight status.

Konate arrives on the back of an impressive campaign with Atlantis FC, registering nine clean sheets and producing a series of outstanding performances that attracted interest from several clubs. His consistency, command of the penalty area and excellent shot-stopping ability made him one of the league’s most dependable goalkeepers.

Yamoussoukro FC believe the experienced goalkeeper will add quality, leadership and stability to their defensive unit as they prepare for what promises to be a demanding first season back in the Ivorian Ligue 1.

The club has been active in the transfer market since sealing promotion, with management determined to assemble a squad capable of competing strongly against more established top-flight opponents.

For Konate, the move presents an exciting new challenge and an opportunity to showcase his abilities on a bigger stage while helping Yamoussoukro FC establish themselves in the Ivorian top division.

The goalkeeper will be expected to play a key role between the posts as the newly promoted side targets a successful debut campaign and aims to secure its place in the top flight beyond the 2026/27 season.
