Ivorian forward Yann Karamoh seals move to FC Porto

FC Porto have confirmed the signing of Ivorian striker Yann Karamoh on a deal running until the summer of 2026.

The 27-year-old, who was a free agent after leaving Torino at the end of June, was officially unveiled by the Portuguese giants through their communication channels on Tuesday.

His arrival strengthens Porto’s attacking options as the club continue their domestic campaign and prepare for the demands of European competition.

Born in Abidjan, Karamoh has built a career across some of Europe’s most competitive leagues, having previously played in Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1 and Turkey’s Süper Lig.

His versatility and experience are seen as valuable assets for the Dragons, who are aiming to make a strong impression in the Europa League this season.

“This is an important opportunity for me,” Karamoh said in his first words as a Porto player. “I am ready to give everything for the club and contribute to achieving its goals. Porto is a team with ambition, history and passion, and I am excited to be part of it.”

Karamoh first came to prominence as a teenager in Ligue 1 with Caen, earning a move to Inter Milan in 2017.

His career has since seen him feature for clubs including Parma and Bordeaux before settling at Torino, where he spent the past two seasons.

Despite moments of promise in Serie A, his contract was not renewed, leaving him free to consider new options over the summer.

For Porto, the addition of Karamoh represents both experience and depth in attack. Manager Sérgio Conceição is known for demanding physicality, discipline and adaptability from his players, qualities the Ivorian forward is expected to bring.

The Portuguese side, currently competing on multiple fronts, view his arrival as a boost for their pursuit of silverware at home and in Europe.

The move also marks a chance for Karamoh to re-establish himself on the continental stage.

While he has already experienced European football in Italy and France, Porto’s consistent involvement in European competitions provides a platform for him to showcase his ability against top-level opposition.

At 27, the forward is entering what many consider the peak years of a footballer’s career.

Karamoh’s signing follows Porto’s strategy of acquiring experienced players capable of making an immediate impact without the financial burden of transfer fees.

For the Ivorian, the deal offers stability with a contract extending until 2026 and the opportunity to represent one of Portugal’s most decorated clubs.

The forward’s journey from Abidjan to some of Europe’s top leagues has been one marked by resilience and determination.

Now, in Porto’s famous blue and white, he has the chance to take on a new chapter, with expectations that he can add pace, creativity and goals to Conceição’s squad.

As the Dragons look ahead to the remainder of the campaign, all eyes will be on how quickly Karamoh can adapt to Portuguese football and whether he can deliver the performances that once made him one of Ligue 1’s brightest young prospects.
