Yan Diomande refuses to rule out Leipzig exit

Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande has cast fresh doubt over his long-term future at RB Leipzig after refusing to rule out a possible summer departure amid growing interest from several top European clubs.

The highly-rated striker has emerged as one of the standout names ahead of the upcoming transfer window following an impressive Bundesliga campaign that has reportedly attracted attention from clubs across England, Spain and Italy.

Speaking to The Athletic as he prepares for the FIFA World Cup with Ivory Coast national football team, Diomande remained cautious when asked about his future.

“The World Cup is coming up, and after that, you never know what might happen.”

The comments are expected to intensify speculation surrounding the 21-year-old forward, who has rapidly become one of the most exciting young African talents in European football.

Despite the uncertainty, Diomande was full of praise for Leipzig and the support system the club has provided since signing him in a deal reportedly worth €20 million. The Ivorian striker stressed that the German side’s impact on his life extends far beyond football.

“I’ll never forget that. It’s not just about playing football. Most people only see what happens on the pitch, but the club has helped me so much with my family and my mum.”

“For young lads like me, a lot goes on, but nobody knows about it apart from the club. They’ve done so much for me, I’m grateful to them and all I can do is help them on the pitch.”

Diomande also acknowledged the pressure that came with his price tag, insisting he remains determined to justify the club’s investment through hard work and continued improvement.

“It’s a huge motivation to repay them for what they’ve invested in me. €20 million is a big risk, but it’s not over yet; we have to keep working hard.”

Since arriving in Germany, Diomande has developed into a key attacking figure for Leipzig thanks to his pace, movement and clinical finishing. His rise has also strengthened his importance within the Ivorian national team setup ahead of the World Cup.

With Europe’s elite clubs monitoring his situation closely, the coming months could prove decisive in determining whether Diomande continues his journey in Germany or takes the next major step in his rapidly rising career.
