Ivorian forward Oumar Diakité joins Sturm Graz on loan from Stade de Reims

Ivorian international Oumar Diakité has joined Austrian club Sturm Graz on a season-long loan from Stade de Reims for the 2026–2027 campaign.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion is embarking on another temporary spell away from Reims after spending last season on loan at Belgian side Cercle Brugge.

Sturm Graz have secured the services of the Ivorian striker as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the new season.

The agreement between Sturm Graz and Reims includes an option to buy, meaning Diakité could make the move permanent at the end of the 2026–2027 campaign if the Austrian club decides to exercise the clause.

Should the option be activated, the 2023 African champion will sign a permanent contract with Sturm Graz and continue his career in Austria.

For Diakité, the move provides another opportunity to gain regular playing time and continue his development while competing in a new environment.

The Ivorian forward is already familiar with Austrian football and believes his previous experience in the country will help him settle quickly at his new club.

Speaking after completing the move, Diakité expressed his excitement about joining Sturm Graz and praised the club’s ambitions and supporters.

“I’m already very familiar with Sturm from my time in Austria, it’s a top-flight club with great ambitions and fantastic supporters,” Diakité said.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be here now and to give my all on the pitch as soon as possible!”

The 2026–2027 season will therefore present Diakité with another important opportunity to establish himself, with his performances potentially determining whether Sturm Graz move to make his transfer permanent.

The Ivorian will now turn his attention to settling into the squad and making an immediate impact as Sturm Graz prepare for a demanding campaign.
