Ivorian FA president Yacine Idriss Diallo dismisses fake comments over AFCON 2025 title stripping
President of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss Diallo, has strongly refuted circulating claims that he commented on a recent decision by the Confederation of African Football, describing the reports as “false” and a deliberate act of manipulation.
Reports went rife that Diallo had taken a position regarding a ruling delivered by CAF’s Appeal Panel. However, Diallo has categorically denied making any such statements, distancing himself from the claims.
Taking to his official communication channels, the federation president expressed deep frustration over the situation, stressing that the information being circulated does not originate from him.
“It is with deep dismay that I learned this morning of remarks attributed to me concerning CAF,” Diallo stated. “I wish to make it clear that I have made no statement or comment on the decisions of the CAF committees.”
He went further to label the reports as fabricated, warning the public against misinformation and urging stakeholders to verify any news linked to him through credible sources.
“Consequently, this post is a case of pure manipulation and constitutes false information. I urge everyone to remain vigilant and to refer solely to my official channels for any communication concerning me,” he added.
The statement comes amid heightened attention around CAF decisions and governance matters, making the spread of unverified claims particularly sensitive within African football circles.
Diallo’s firm response underscores growing concerns over misinformation in the digital space, especially when it involves high-profile football administrators and key continental bodies like CAF.
