Evan Ndicka nets first goal of the season for Roma

Ivory Coast international Evan Ndicka was on target for AS Roma as the Italian side secured an emphatic victory over Udinese in Saturday’s Serie A encounter.

The 27-year-old defender found the back of the net on October 31, scoring Roma’s fourth goal in a dominant performance at the Bluenergy Stadium on matchday 10 of the Italian top-flight campaign.

Roma controlled proceedings for large spells of the encounter, with Ndicka adding his name to the scoresheet in the 37th minute after rising highest to head home a corner delivered by Matias Soulé.

The Ivorian’s contribution further underlined Roma’s attacking dominance, as the defender demonstrated his threat from set-piece situations to complement his usual defensive responsibilities.

The goal represents Ndicka’s first in eight Serie A appearances this season, having continued to establish himself as an important figure in Roma’s defensive setup.

He enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, scoring three goals in the Italian top flight and demonstrating his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

His latest strike will provide another boost to his confidence as he looks to maintain his consistency for the capital club.

Ndicka’s encouraging performances will also be welcome news for Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Faé, who is preparing his squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The defending African champions are scheduled to face Gambia in a double-header for the third and fourth matchdays of the qualifying campaign.

With Ndicka continuing to deliver solid performances at club level, the Elephants will be hoping the Roma defender carries his impressive form into the international break as they pursue qualification for the 2027 continental tournament.
