Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has reaffirmed his belief that the Accra-based club will soon return to title-winning form, despite another likely trophyless season.
The Ghanaian giants, who failed to claim silverware last season, are once again set to finish the 2024/25 campaign without a major title. Yet Ouattara remains confident in the team’s long-term trajectory and insists that the club is laying the foundations for a revival.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the Ivorian tactician urged fans to stay patient, promising that better days are ahead for one of Ghana’s most historic football clubs.
“A time will come when Hearts of Oak will rise again and perform excellently,” Ouattara declared. “It will feel like magic—a true moment of transformation and evolution.”
With just a few fixtures remaining in the Ghana Premier League, Hearts currently find themselves out of the title race. However, the head coach stressed the importance of finishing the season strongly and maintaining a winning mentality.
“We’re taking each game seriously. Our goal is to win all remaining matches and finish strong,” he assured supporters.
Hearts of Oak’s inconsistent performances have raised concerns among fans, many of whom expected a more competitive campaign under Ouattara’s leadership.
While acknowledging the disappointment, the coach emphasized the need for accountability and deep reflection if the club is to return to the summit of Ghanaian football.
“If we don’t win the league, we must reflect deeply and ask: What went wrong?” he added. “It’s important we understand the causes and work hard to address them.”
The club’s next test comes in the form of a challenging away fixture against Berekum Chelsea at Golden City Park in the Ghana Premier League Matchday 31.
The result of this encounter could significantly influence the mood within the Hearts camp as the season draws to a close.
Since his appointment, Ouattara has sought to instil discipline and tactical structure within the squad. However, a mix of injuries, inconsistency, and squad depth issues have contributed to Hearts’ struggles in maintaining momentum across the season.
Despite the setbacks, the coach remains resolute that his project will bear fruit. He believes that with the right investments in player development, squad balance, and infrastructure, the Phobians can reclaim their place at the top of Ghanaian football.
“Our vision is clear. This club has a proud history and passionate supporters. We are working not just for short-term gains, but for long-term success,” Ouattara said.
Hearts of Oak, a club with multiple Ghana Premier League titles and a rich legacy in continental football, have not captured the domestic league crown since the 2020/21 season. With Ouattara at the helm, the ambition is to rebuild and restore the club’s status as a dominant force in African football.
As the campaign nears its conclusion, all eyes will be on how Hearts of Oak close out their remaining fixtures—and whether they can turn optimism into results next season.
