Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has categorically denied rumours linking the French champions to a potential move for Liverpool’s Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah.
Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Al-Khelaifi addressed the speculation, emphasising that while Salah is a phenomenal player, PSG has never considered signing him.
“It’s not true. He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest. We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true,” Al-Khelaifi stated.
The 32-year-old forward’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season. Without a renewal from Liverpool, Salah will be eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting January 1, 2025.
As one of the most prolific attackers in modern football, Salah is expected to attract significant interest from top clubs worldwide. However, PSG appears uninterested, even with the possibility of acquiring him as a free agent in the summer.
While PSG has ruled themselves out, Salah’s future remains uncertain. Liverpool’s reluctance or ability to secure a contract extension for their talisman could lead to a bidding war among elite clubs eager to add his quality and experience to their squads.
Meanwhile, the African star has given the indication that he is open to signing a one-year contract extension.
