Ghana-born Daniel Sosah has revealed that facing Ghana, the country of his birth, was a dream he held since committing to play for the Niger national team.
Sosah, born in Ghana to a Beninese father and a Ghanaian mother, began his career in Niger, where he later naturalized.
The Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih forward played against Ghana in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium in November 2024.
In a historic victory, Niger triumphed 2-1, securing their first-ever win against Ghana on their home turf and breaking a 16-year unbeaten streak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reflecting on the experience, the 26-year-old expressed his joy at playing against the nation of his birth.
“I was happy when we beat Ghana,” Sosah told Accra-based Asempa FM. “Since I started playing for Niger, it has always been my dream to face Ghana.”
Despite the historic win, both Ghana and Niger failed to qualify for the Morocco AFCON, with Angola and Sudan securing the remaining spots.
