Lilian Thuram, the former French international footballer, has been summoned before the Italian courts in connection with an affair involving false advertising contracts. The case is related to the fraudulent bankruptcy of the agri-food giant Parmalat, which also involved several former Parma AC football players, including Thuram. The prosecutor has requested the referral to justice of several ex-stars of the club for “involuntary fraudulent bankruptcy.” Thuram, along with players like Juan Sebastian Veron and Hernan Crespo, will be in the dock, and nearly 10 million euros are alleged to have left Parmalat’s coffers for false advertising contracts. Thuram has denied any involvement in the affair, stating that he has never advertised for Parmalat nor signed an advertising contract with the company.
