Ishak Belfodil Parts Ways with Parma Amid Interest from Turkey
Algerian international Ishak Belfodil has officially ended his stint with Italian side Parma, reaching an amicable agreement to terminate his contract early. The 23-year-old forward had been seeking an exit from the crisis-hit club, which has been relegated to Serie B following financial collapse and bankruptcy.
Belfodil, who joined Parma in 2014 after previous spells with Lyon, Inter Milan, and Livorno, leaves amid widespread turmoil at the club, which has been unable to pay wages or manage daily operations due to its financial situation. The once-promising Serie A outfit has now been relegated and will start next season in the Italian second tier.
With his contract now dissolved, Belfodil becomes a free agent and is attracting strong interest from abroad. Turkish side Trabzonspor is reportedly leading the chase for the striker’s signature, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Talks are said to be ongoing.
For Belfodil, a move to Turkey could provide a fresh start after a turbulent season in Italy. The Algerian, who featured in the 2014 World Cup with the Fennecs, is keen to regain form and stability ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
