Italian-born defender of Nigerian descent Michael Kayode has reportedly attracted the attention of German champions Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga giants continue to assess options for the right side of their defence.
Bayern are said to be closely monitoring Kayode’s progress, with the 21-year-old increasingly coming into focus as a potential reinforcement. According to reports from Teamtalk, the Munich-based club has been following the development of the FC Brentford defender with keen interest.
Kayode only completed a permanent move from Fiorentina to Brentford last summer but wasted little time in establishing himself as a key figure in the Premier League side. The young full-back has started 20 league matches and delivered a series of consistent performances, a rise that has significantly boosted his market value.
The report also notes that Bayern are not alone in their admiration, as Italian heavyweights Juventus and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the defender. However, any move for Kayode would come at a considerable cost, with the player tied to Brentford on a long-term contract running until 2030.
Despite the financial challenge, Bayern remain active in the market, particularly with uncertainty surrounding Sacha Boey’s future.
As reported by Africasoccer in the last 48 hours, a potential winter departure for Sacha Boey could prompt the German champions to accelerate their search for a new right-back, with Kayode firmly on their radar.
