Mario Balotelli’s time at Genoa remains in question despite his mid-season arrival.
The club’s sporting director, Marco Ottolini, suggested that other players might be a better fit for their style of play.
“Balotelli? With Mario, we talked to each other clearly. He trains, he is on the list, there are still some open markets, and we see what we can do. We could have activated the clause in late December, but we did not because it is not in our style, and we wanted to give ourselves more time,” Ottolini told Secolo XIX.
Balotelli joined Genoa on October 28, 2024, signing a deal until the end of the season. He made his debut in a 1-0 victory over Parma on November 4 and has since featured in six Serie A matches.
As the transfer market remains active, uncertainty lingers over whether Balotelli will see out his contract or if Genoa will seek a different attacking solution.
