Lamine Yamal has broken his silence after a devastating injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season, dealing a major blow to both FC Barcelona and Spain’s World Cup hopes.

The 18-year-old forward was forced off during Barcelona’s recent clash with Celta Vigo shortly after converting from the penalty spot.

In a moment that immediately raised concern, Yamal refrained from celebrating, visibly struggling with discomfort before leaving the pitch.

Early assessments have since confirmed a significant hamstring injury that is expected to sideline him for several weeks.

Barcelona confirmed the diagnosis on Thursday, revealing that the teenager will undergo a conservative recovery programme as medical staff prioritise his long-term fitness.

The timeline casts serious doubt over his availability for the upcoming World Cup, with Spain’s final squad set to be announced at the end of May.

In an emotional message shared with supporters, Yamal acknowledged the frustration of being sidelined at a crucial stage of the campaign, particularly as Barcelona push towards the La Liga title.

“This injury leaves me off the pitch at the moment I wanted to be there the most, and it hurts more than I can explain. It hurts not being able to fight alongside my teammates, not being able to help when the team needs me. But I believe in them and I know they’re going to give their all in every match.

“I’ll be there, even if it’s from the outside, supporting, cheering and pushing like one more. This isn’t the end, it’s just a pause. I’ll come back stronger, with more desire than ever, and next season will be better.

“Thank you for the messages and Visca el Barça.”

Barcelona’s latest victory has extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points, placing them firmly in control of the title race. However, Yamal’s absence, alongside that of Raphinha, presents a fresh challenge for the squad as they approach the decisive final stretch of the season.
