Issa Kabore: West Ham eye move for Man City and Burkina Faso right-back

Burkina Faso defender Issa Kabore is being linked with a move from Manchester City to West Ham, with the Championship club exploring a deal for the 25-year-old right-back. Kabore is under contract at City until 30 June 2027 but has again emerged as a potential departure as the Premier League champions reshape their squad.

Kabore, valued at around €4m, returned to City earlier this summer after a loan spell at Wrexham in the 2025-26 season, the latest in a long sequence of temporary moves since he joined the club from KV Mechelen in 2020. West Ham are assessing defensive options and view Kabore’s contractual situation as a possible opportunity to secure a player with extensive top-flight and European experience.

The full-back has accumulated significant minutes across major leagues, including 53 Ligue 1 appearances and a season in the Premier League during a loan at Luton, where he featured 24 times and contributed two assists. He has also appeared in the UEFA Champions League and spent time in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen and in Portugal with Benfica, where he was part of a Portuguese league cup-winning squad in 2024-25.

Kabore’s club career has largely been spent away from Manchester on loan, with stints at Troyes, Marseille, Luton, Benfica, Werder Bremen and most recently Wrexham. Despite his lack of sustained involvement at City, his experience across different competitions and his age profile have made him an intriguing target.

For now, Kabore remains a Manchester City player, with one year gone on a contract that runs to 2027, leaving City in a strong position to negotiate any potential sale.
