Issa Kabore: West Brom linked with move for Man City and Burkina Faso right-back

Issa Kabore, the Burkina Faso right-back currently at Manchester City, is being linked with a move to Championship side West Bromwich Albion as the summer transfer window gathers pace.

Kabore, 25, has one year remaining on his City contract, which runs until 30 June 2027, and his situation is being monitored as the Premier League champions consider their options for a player valued at around €4m. West Brom are understood to be assessing defensive reinforcements, with Kabore’s experience in English football and across Europe seen as a potential fit.

Since joining City in July 2020, Kabore has spent much of his time out on loan, including spells in Ligue 1 with Troyes and Marseille and in the Championship with Luton Town, where he made 30 league appearances and registered eight assists. Most recently he has had short-term moves in Germany with Werder Bremen and in Portugal with Benfica, where he was part of a squad that won the Portuguese League Cup in 2024-25.

Kabore has also featured in the Premier League for City, making 24 appearances and contributing two assists, while earning recognition at international level with Burkina Faso, where he was named the country’s best young player in 2021.

West Brom’s interest comes after Kabore returned to Manchester this summer following a loan at Wrexham in the 2025-26 season. With City yet to commit to a longer-term role for the defender beyond his current deal, his contractual position is expected to be a key factor in any negotiations over the coming weeks.
