Congolese footballer Serge Lofo Bongli has emerged as the prime suspect in a murder investigation in Israel, according to sources linked to the DR Congo embassy in Israel, as reported by Radiokapi.net. Police inquiries suggest that the player and his friend had an encounter with a young Jewish woman who was later discovered lifeless. The police swiftly dismissed the possibility of suicide, pointing to the absence of underwear on the girl’s body.
These incidents unfolded a week ago in Netanya, situated 15 km from Tel Aviv, Israel. The remains have now been sent to the Abu-Kabîr Forensic Institute to determine whether the incident was a murder or an accident and to establish the woman’s status before her tragic demise. Serge Lofo Bongeli, associated with TP Mazembé, had been on loan to the Israeli club Maccabi Natanya since September 2012 for six months. The player maintains his innocence amid the ongoing investigation.
