Ismaily set condition for selling star Mohamed Konta and confirm keeper Abdallah Gamal’s layoff
The interim board of Ismaily, led by Tarek Rashad Rahmi, has set a clear condition for allowing young forward Mohamed Samir Konta to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
The 18-year-old has attracted strong interest from Al Ahly and National Bank of Egypt after a series of impressive performances this season.
A source at Ismaily told Koora that Konta has not yet received any official offers, but stressed that the club will not let him go easily if one arrives. The official added that, with the club currently banned from registering new players, it would be very difficult to release the youngster unless a financial offer comes in that is simply too good to turn down. Konta is also involved with Egypt’s 2007-born national team after being called up by coach Wael Riyad, which further underlines his growing status.
On the injury front, head of Ismaily’s medical staff, Magdy El Baz, confirmed that goalkeeper Abdallah Gamal has suffered a dislocated right shoulder during the 3-1 defeat to El Gouna in the Egypt Capital Cup. He said the keeper will see a shoulder specialist in Cairo on Saturday to decide whether surgery is needed, but the absence will not be less than three months.
