Tensions continue to rise at Ismaily SC as the club’s board, led by Nasr Abu Al-Hassan, faces mounting pressure from fans and ex-players demanding a vote of no confidence.
Despite the growing unrest, the board insists that the required legal quorum to call for an extraordinary general assembly has not been achieved.
According to club bylaws, at least 1,500 member signatures are needed to trigger such a meeting. While the Ismaili Council confirmed on Tuesday that this threshold had not been met, a new twist came when the administrative body extended the signature deadline to July 14, reigniting controversy.
Dozens of fans and former players, including Mohamed Sobhi, Ahmed Fikry El-Sagheer, and Hamada El-Masry, have backed the no-confidence motion.
The board denied claims that doors were shut to members. “Since early morning, the club has been welcoming 246 members, with official receipts,” read Wednesday’s statement.
The board also noted cooperation with the Egyptian Olympic Committee and announced that a member has filed for candidacy in upcoming by-elections, following recent board resignations.
