Ismaily have filed a formal protest with the Egyptian Football Association and the Professional Clubs Association, targeting referee Ahmed El Ghandour’s performance in their recent 1-1 draw against Smouha SC.
The club believes El Ghandour’s officiating during Friday’s match, part of the relegation battle in the Egyptian league, was marred by serious errors that influenced the result.
Tensions rose after Ismaily’s Abdel Rahman El Dah was shown a red card during the game, a decision the club strongly contested. Ismaily claim the referee made multiple poor calls and mishandled the use of video technology.
In their official statement, the club described the errors as “catastrophic” and said the handling of the match was a continuation of what they believe is unfair treatment in various domestic competitions this season.
The complaint highlights Ismaily’s growing frustration as they fight to avoid relegation. With the stakes rising in the closing stages of the campaign, the club’s move signals their intent to demand better officiating moving forward.
