Reports that the club is supporting Al Ahly’s request to call off the Egyptian Premier League season have been denied by a source in Ismaily’s management.
“We only think about Ismaily’s best interests in a way that does not harm Egyptian football,” the source told Kooora. “We do not seek to disrupt the league’s stability.”
The official emphasized the importance of unity in addressing football crises. “Everyone should work together to resolve issues through meaningful and calm dialogue.”
Ismaily remains determined to navigate its own challenges but insists this should not come at the cost of the league’s future.
Tensions escalated after Al Ahly refused to play against Zamalek on Tuesday, protesting the assignment of Egyptian referees. The club issued a statement demanding foreign officials and threatened to withdraw from the competition if its request was denied.
Speculation has grown that other clubs may follow suit, calling for the league’s cancellation or pulling out of the tournament altogether.
