Ismail Youssef advises Gomes ahead of Zamalek’s clash with Renaissance Berkane

Ismail Youssef, former football director of Zamalek Club, has offered two pieces of advice to José Gomes, the team’s head coach, ahead of their encounter with Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup final. Youssef emphasized that the absence of Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala would not be influential.

Speaking on the “Al Laeeb” program on MBC Masr, Ismail Youssef stated, “I believe that Zamalek’s tactical level is on the rise, and Gomes must demonstrate the team’s playing style before the Confederation Cup final.”

He continued, “Gomes has a week to fine-tune some tactical aspects because the match in Morocco will be tough. He should focus on finishing attacks. Zamalek is capable, but before facing Renaissance Berkane, he should field the same lineup against Smouha in the league.”

Zamalek is set to face Smouha tomorrow, Sunday, at the Borg El Arab Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League, in the final rehearsal before confronting Renaissance Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Youssef concluded, “Zamalek will not be affected by Shikabala’s absence. There are many alternatives that benefit the team, especially since the latter will be absent for a month and a half due to a significant injury. The players available have the required depth, and Gomes has other solutions.”

The Zamalek and Renaissance Berkane match in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 PM Cairo time on Sunday, May 12, in Morocco.
