Ismaël Saibari earns praise after scoring first Bayern Munich goal

Ismaël Saibari has earned strong praise from the German media after scoring his first goal for Bayern Munich in Friday’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin.

The Morocco international came off the bench in the 63rd minute, replacing Luís Díaz, and needed only seven minutes to get on the scoresheet.

Saibari received the ball and used his physical strength to create space before unleashing a powerful shot that left the Union Berlin defence with no chance.

His performance as a substitute attracted positive reviews from several German media outlets, with his individual effort for Bayern’s fifth goal receiving particular attention.

Sport awarded Saibari a rating of 1.5, with one being the highest possible mark and six the lowest in the German grading system.

“As a substitute, he quickly found his feet ,” writes Sport, which gives him a rating of 1.5 (in Germany, 1 being the maximum rating and 6 the lowest).

“He scored after a superb solo run and, in added time, he almost scored his second goal.”

The Munich-based Abendzeitung was also impressed, giving the Moroccan a rating of 2.

“He replaced Díaz on the left flank and scored the fifth goal of the evening with a determined individual effort. His first goal since his transfer from Eindhoven.”

Spox also gave Saibari a rating of 2 and highlighted the manner in which he produced his first Bayern goal.

“This goal followed three assists in the first three games of the season.”

The outlet described the move that led to the goal as a “magnificent solo run”.

RAN gave Saibari another rating of 2 and described the Bayern midfielder as a “dangerous player.”

“In the seventieth minute, he launched an irresistible solo run. He finished sublimely, making it 5-0.”

The positive reaction from the German press comes after Saibari’s early weeks at Bayern following his summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

The attacking midfielder has already made an impression despite frequently being introduced from the bench.

Saibari has played seven matches for the Bavarian club since arriving from Eindhoven and has been decisive as a substitute in most of those appearances.

His goal against Union Berlin added another important moment to his start at Bayern.

The 7-0 victory also provided Saibari with an opportunity to show his attacking qualities after entering the match in the second half.

His physical strength, individual running and ability to finish the move were all highlighted by the German media following his contribution.

For Saibari, the goal represents his first for Bayern since his move from PSV and another indication of his adaptation to his new surroundings.
