Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer is on track for a much earlier return to action than initially expected, following a lengthy recovery from a calf injury. The AC Milan midfielder, who has been sidelined since September, was initially forecast to be out until January 2024. However, thanks to a specialized rehabilitation program at Aspetar hospital in Qatar, Bennacer’s recovery has exceeded expectations.
Originally, Bennacer was expected to begin individual training in mid-December, with group sessions slated for the end of the month.
However, recent reports confirm that he will be back at the Milanello training center on December 4, 2024, signaling his progress.
Journalist Antonio Vitiello reported that Bennacer’s return follows intensive work with a personal trainer in Qatar, which has allowed him to accelerate his rehabilitation.
This new phase will see him focus on individual training to further improve his physical condition before rejoining team activities.
The 27-year-old’s return to full fitness is a significant boost for both AC Milan and Algeria as they look forward to his comeback on the field.
Bennacer’s recovery is particularly notable considering his history of injuries.
He was sidelined for several months in May 2023 due to a knee injury, further intensifying his determination to recover swiftly.
Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has acknowledged that Bennacer will face stiff competition in midfield, with players like Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana impressing during his absence.
As a result, Bennacer’s immediate return to a starting role is not guaranteed, and he may need time to regain his place in the team.
Despite the challenges ahead, Bennacer’s early recovery signals a positive step in his return to competitive football, with his involvement in AC Milan’s fixtures now on the horizon.
