Coritiba Football Club in Brazil officially confirmed the departure of Algerian international Islam Slimani.
The Brazilian club’s management released a statement through its official platform on “X,” announcing the termination of the contract with the historic scorer of the Algerian national team.

This decision comes months before the contract’s natural expiration in December 2024.
While Slimani remains contractually bound until the end of the year, he has opted not to continue playing in the Brazilian second division.
Instead, he is set to make a return to Europe in the current winter transfer window, joining Belgium’s Mechelen, with the official announcement of the deal expected in the coming hours.
