Isayas Jira Bosho re-elected as Ethiopia FA president for historic third term

Isayas Jira Bosho has been re-elected as president of the Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF), becoming the first person in the country’s football history to secure a third term in office.

Jira received 81 votes from the 88-member EFF General Assembly after standing as the sole candidate in the election, earning another four-year mandate to continue leading Ethiopian football.

The result represents a significant endorsement of the president, whose tenure has been marked by efforts to strengthen football development across the country.

Having first taken office eight years ago, Jira has now secured an unprecedented third consecutive term, a milestone that no previous EFF president has achieved.

The overwhelming backing from delegates is seen as a vote of confidence in both his leadership and the federation’s ongoing plans to develop the game at grassroots and elite levels.

During his time in office, Jira has been credited with driving initiatives aimed at improving football structures in Ethiopia, including efforts to enhance talent development and strengthen the administration of the sport.

His renewed mandate comes as Ethiopian football continues to pursue long-term growth, with the federation expected to build on existing programmes designed to nurture young players and improve the national football landscape.
