Isaacs urges patience with Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mtasingwa

Former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Dominic Isaacs says midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko should be given more time to adapt after arriving late for the club’s pre-season campaign.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joined Kaizer Chiefs from Tanzanian side Azam FC late in July 2026, meaning he missed most of the preparations before the new season. His introduction to life at Naturena has consequently been gradual.

Mtasingwa has played only three times for Amakhosi so far. Each appearance has come as a substitute or in a brief cameo under French coach Fernando Da Cruz, who has publicly supported the player and stressed that he needs time to adjust to the demands of the fast-paced Premier Soccer League.

Isaacs believes the midfielder should not be judged too quickly, particularly given the pressure surrounding performances and results at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Mtasingwa needs to be given a fair chance; with him, you can’t be too harsh and make decisions too soon,” Isaacs told KickOff.

“People must remember he is coming into an environment where the pressure is too high in terms of performance and winning games. It’s usually difficult for people to adjust in environments like that.

“Let’s just give the player enough time to adjust; people must give him time to adapt.”

Mtasingwa’s transition has also involved moving into a different football environment after spending six seasons playing abroad. During that period, he featured in the Icelandic, Norwegian and Finnish leagues.

That overseas experience has not yet translated into a regular starting role at Kaizer Chiefs, with Da Cruz choosing to use him mainly from the bench while he becomes accustomed to the Premier Soccer League.

Isaacs’ comments come as Mtasingwa continues to settle into the squad following his late arrival, with the former Kaizer Chiefs defender warning against making an early decision on the midfielder based on his limited appearances.
