Kossi Adjodo has officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF), becoming the first to enter the race ahead of the elections scheduled for 4 November. In an exclusive interview with Africa Top Sports, the former FTF executive laid out a bold vision to revive Togolese football through reform, unity, and transparency.
Adjodo previously resigned from his position within the FTF, citing systemic failures and mismanagement. “We joined the Federation with the belief that we could usher in a new era after years of crisis,” he said. “But it quickly became clear that the old habits remained entrenched. My repeated warnings went unheeded, so I chose to step aside.”
Now, with growing calls for change from across Togo’s football community, Adjodo says he is stepping forward again—this time with broad support and a renewed sense of purpose.
“Stakeholders from all regions have come together to form a unified front. They have entrusted me to lead a national consensus team committed to reforming our football,” he explained.
Adjodo emphasised that his campaign is not built on wealth or personal ambition, but on competence and collective effort. “We are not looking for messianic figures. What Togolese football needs is capable, committed leadership focused on the common good,” he added.
However, the road to the November elections may not be smooth. Adjodo raised serious concerns over the integrity of the electoral process, warning of a potential conflict of interest if the current FTF leadership oversees the elections.
He criticised the electoral code adopted by the outgoing administration, describing it as a breach of FIFA’s standard electoral guidelines. “The code allows the current executive to appoint the electoral commission and even handle appeals. That undermines the very transparency and fairness that FIFA demands,” he noted.
Adjodo revealed that he and other stakeholders have formally contacted FIFA, requesting the organisation’s direct intervention in managing the electoral process. “The stakes are too high. If we allow a flawed process to proceed, we risk burying our football completely,” he warned.
Looking ahead, Adjodo’s ambitions for Togolese football include a complete overhaul of administrative structures and strict adherence to regulations. “Our goal is to reposition Togolese football on the African and global stage. That requires deep reform, modernisation, and a clear vision,” he said.
Asked about his past association with outgoing FTF president Gabriel Améyi, Adjodo downplayed any ongoing relationship, saying they haven’t spoken in years.

To the Togolese public, Adjodo offered a message of hope: “Our football is struggling, but the upcoming elections give us a real chance to rebuild. With the right leadership, the commitment of our people, and a shared vision, we can restore pride and success to Togolese football.”
As the countdown to the elections begins, all eyes will now be on the FTF and FIFA to ensure a transparent and credible process—one that might finally mark a turning point for the beautiful game in Togo.
