Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has opened up on the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against FC Barcelona.
Looking back at the game, Bastoni said Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal gave him the toughest test compared to all defenders he has faced this season.
“We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but together we showed what Inter are made of. Lamine Yamal tested me more than any other player I’ve ever faced,” Bastoni told Ball.Ldn.
He added, “I am very proud to have helped redefine the role of the modern defender! Talent alone is not enough, you need consistency and an obsession with even the smallest details. Hard work pays off in the end.”
In the first leg of the semi-final tie between Barcelona and Inter Milan, both teams settled for a 3-3 draw.
Inter Milan secured a 4-3 win in the reverse fixture to eliminate Barcelona and advance to the final, where they will take on PSG.
