Inter Milan are weighing up a final bid in the region of €50 million for the signing of Nigeria international Ademola Lookman in the current transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are executing an aggressive effort to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign, with Lookman emerging as a priority target.
Atalanta rejected the Nerazzurri previous offer of €45 million, including bonuses, marking the start of the player’s rebellion, forcing the forward to submit in a request.
Atalanta owe 10 per cent of the profit from the sale to his former club RB Leipzig, having purchased him from the Germans in 2022 for €9.35m plus bonuses, forcing the Italian club to demand more.
Lookman has already given Inter a verbal agreement to join Inter Milan. However, the Italian giants will have to meet Atalanta’s asking price to snap the reigning African Footballer of the Year.
According to reports, Inter will resubmit a new offer to Atalanta for Lookman, with the value set to exceed €45 million, approaching €50 million.
Inter has decided to set a deadline for a final response from Atalanta, with the club waiting another 10 days, noting that if the offer is rejected or not responded to, the Nerazzurri will consider other options to sign the player before the start of the new season.
The 27-year-old Lookman made 40 appearances for Atalanta during the 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists.
Lookman joined the club in August 2022 and has since established himself as a key member of the team, playing an instrumental role in the club’s UEFA Europa League success in the 2023/24 season.
