Inter Milan rule out move for Nigerian-descended defender Michael Kayode

Inter Milan have decided against making a move for Michael Kayode as the Italian club continues its search for a new option on the right side of defence.

The Nigerian-descended defender, who currently plays for Brentford, was among the players discussed as a potential solution for Inter’s right wing-back position.

The Serie A club is looking for a long-term replacement option following their need to strengthen the position.

According to reports from Tuttosport, Kayode was offered to Inter as a possible candidate. The 2004-born defender was viewed as an attractive profile because of his age, physical qualities and potential for further development.

However, Inter’s management is understood to have concerns about one key area of his game — his attacking contribution.

The Nerazzurri are looking for a player who can provide a greater impact in the final third, particularly in a role that demands significant involvement in attacking situations.

Kayode made 44 appearances across all competitions last season, but his attacking statistics were limited, recording one goal and two assists.

Those numbers have reportedly reduced Inter’s interest, with the club believing they need a player who can offer more consistent offensive output from the position.

The defender’s transfer value is estimated at around €40 million, a figure that also makes the decision more significant for Inter as they assess their options in the market.
