Inter Milan renew interest in Franco-Ivorian defender Oumar Solet

Inter Milan have reignited their pursuit of Udinese defender Oumar Solet as they prepare for the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Italian giants aim to strengthen their backline amid expected departures from their current squad.

The Nerazzurri have made defensive recruitment a key priority and continue to monitor several targets across Europe.

According to reports from FcInterNews, an Inter scout attended the Serie A match between Udinese and Cagliari on Sunday, closely observing Solet’s performance.

His name has once again appeared on Inter’s list of potential signings as the club looks to bolster its defence.

Inter initially targeted Solet during the previous summer transfer window but failed to secure his services.

Despite a strong interest from the Milan-based club, Udinese rejected their proposal, considering it financially insufficient.

The Lombard side valued Solet highly but could not meet Udinese’s asking price at the time.

Now, Inter plan to return with an improved offer when the winter window opens. Club officials believe the 24-year-old Franco-Ivorian defender could fit seamlessly into Simone Inzaghi’s tactical setup.

Solet’s pace, composure, and aerial strength have impressed scouts, making him one of Udinese’s standout performers this season.

Udinese’s management, while open to discussions, have made it clear they will only consider selling for the right price.

With Solet under contract until June 2027 and earning an annual salary of 1.3 million euros, Udinese remain in a strong negotiating position.

Inter, however, appear determined to push harder this time, viewing the player as a long-term investment rather than a short-term fix.

Solet has made eight appearances across all competitions this season, contributing one assist. His estimated market value stands at 18 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.

His consistent form and leadership at the back have not gone unnoticed by top clubs, with Inter leading the chase.

The Nerazzurri are expected to face competition for his signature, but their renewed effort suggests serious intent.

Inter’s sporting director remains keen on reinforcing the squad’s defensive depth as part of a wider rebuilding plan for the second half of the season.

Udinese, meanwhile, may find it increasingly difficult to retain their defender if Inter raise their offer. With the winter transfer period approaching, negotiations could resume soon between the two clubs.

Solet’s future now depends on whether Inter meet Udinese’s valuation and convince the player to make the move to Milan.

Inter’s management view Solet as a player with both present reliability and future potential. His combination of defensive awareness and technical skill continues to draw praise in Serie A, making him one of the most sought-after defenders in Italy.
