Inter Milan pushing to sign Ivory Coast defender Wilfried Singo
Inter Milan have intensified their pursuit of Ivory Coast international Wilfried Singo, with the Serie A giants reportedly preparing a substantial offer to secure the versatile defender during the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are keen on bringing Singo back to Italian football after the defender previously established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising talents during his four-year spell with Torino between 2019 and 2023. His impressive performances in Italy left a lasting impression, and Inter now see him as an ideal addition to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
Singo’s profile has risen significantly in recent seasons, with his athleticism, defensive intelligence and tactical flexibility making him one of the most sought-after defenders on the market. The 24-year-old is capable of operating as a central defender, right-back or wing-back, qualities that fit perfectly into Inter’s tactical system.
According to reports, Inter’s management have identified the Ivorian as a priority target and are now working on a formal proposal to convince Galatasaray to part ways with the defender.
Sources indicate that the Milan-based outfit are preparing an offer worth €35 million, including performance-related bonuses, in an attempt to complete the transfer. Club executives believe the package could be enough to persuade the Turkish champions to negotiate, although discussions are yet to reach an advanced stage.
Inter’s interest reflects their desire to inject quality and versatility into Simone Inzaghi’s defensive unit as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts next season, including Serie A, the UEFA Champions League and domestic cup competitions.
However, Inter are unlikely to enjoy a clear path in the race for Singo’s signature.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are closely monitoring the defender’s situation and are understood to admire his physical attributes and ability to adapt to different defensive roles. Diego Simeone is reportedly a long-time admirer of the Ivorian and believes he possesses the qualities required to thrive in La Liga.
Premier League side Nottingham Forest have also entered the picture as they continue to strengthen their squad, while Italian champions Napoli are keeping tabs on developments and could launch their own move should the opportunity arise.
With interest growing from several top European clubs, Galatasaray could find themselves at the centre of a transfer battle for one of their prized defensive assets.
Singo’s combination of pace, strength, aerial dominance and attacking instincts has made him one of Africa’s standout defenders in recent years. His experience in Serie A could also prove decisive, as he would require little time to readjust to Italian football should a return materialise.
As the summer transfer window gathers momentum, all eyes will be on whether Inter Milan can fend off competition from Atletico Madrid, Nottingham Forest and Napoli to complete what would be one of their marquee defensive signings ahead of the 2026/27 season.
