Inter Milan eye Franco-Ivorian midfielder Manu Koné ahead of summer window
Inter Milan have set their sights firmly on Franco-Ivorian midfielder Manu Koné as the club prepare for a crucial summer transfer window, with the Nerazzurri determined to reinforce their midfield with one of Serie A’s most consistent performers.
The Italian giants’ interest in the 24-year-old is longstanding, having previously explored a move for the midfielder during last summer’s window.
Now, with the club pushing to maintain dominance both domestically and in Europe, Koné has re-emerged as a priority target.
Currently on the books of AS Roma until June 2029, the French international, who has earned 12 caps for France, is valued between €40 million and €50 million. Roma, however, are under no pressure to sell and are expected to demand a premium fee for one of their standout performers.
Kone’s rise in Italian football has been nothing short of impressive. Since arriving in Serie A from Borussia Mönchengladbach, he has developed into a complete midfielder, blending defensive solidity with attacking intelligence. His ability to operate in multiple roles—whether shielding the backline or driving forward—has made him indispensable.
A key figure under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, the Colombes-born midfielder has been a model of consistency this season. He has started 31 of the 34 matches he has featured in, contributing two goals and two assists while dictating the tempo in midfield.
However, Inter’s pursuit is unlikely to be straightforward. Competition from other top European clubs is expected, and Kone’s valuation could skyrocket depending on his performances on the international stage, particularly with a major tournament on the horizon.
For Inter, landing Koné would represent a significant statement of intent as they look to build a midfield capable of sustaining success at the highest level. But with Roma holding a strong contractual position and interest mounting across the continent, the Nerazzurri may have to fight hard, and spend big, to secure their man.
